Our first trip to Utah was the inspiration for this blog and our Instagram account @the_inspired_travelers

Our goal is to provide practical information, ideas, tips and the confidence to encourage others to travel responsibly!

Our Mission

We started this blog to share our adventures to inspire people to travel. Our goal is to provide practical information, ideas, tips and the confidence to encourage others to get out there! We promote responsible recreation in order to protect and preserve our natural world and communities. We feel that travel is accessible for nearly everyone, with any budget, amount of time or equipment. Please contact us for help, ideas or travel questions!

Our History

This all began as a mutual hobby. We honestly never thought of starting a blog, but a friend suggested that we should. Our niche Instagram account was first, which we made to document our travels and share cool photos. As we got deeper into that a blog seemed like a practical way to expand on our adventures and provide more details and tips for our readers. I’d describe us both as storytellers, who generally just enjoy talking about anything really! I (Nicole) like to write and starting a blog gave me a purpose and something to actually write about. We found that people asked lots of questions about and were often envious of our travels and adventures, but it’s not like we’re doing anything special, or that even costs loads of money. Both of us work full time jobs, have a mortgage to pay and deal with many of the typical “adulting” responsibilities that are necessary in life. But when we want to do or see something, we just do it; within our means, budget and realm of reality we figure it out and make things happen! Travel and new experiences make us feel alive, be present, live in the moment, and forget about everything that we stress about on the regular. We hope to help others feel the same way, and if this blog can inspire a few more people to travel and explore then our goal is accomplished.

We’ve found that our mission and focus continue to evolve. The longer we do this the stronger we feel that our hobby needs to have a purpose, to be more than just sharing our trips and pretty photos. We strive to create content that’s relevant, informative and useful for our readers while making a positive impact.

The more we travel the more we realize just how many people don’t know how to do it responsibly; we see things like littering, irresponsible behavior, incorrect equipment and no planning ALL THE TIME. It’s frustrating, but that’s when we realized we should use our platforms to educate people too. We’re not perfect either and have learned much of this stuff along the way! Hopefully we can inspire and encourage others to travel and enjoy the outdoors responsibly, to minimize their impacts and help preserve and protect the natural environment for years to come—and how to avoid loving the earth to death, literally.

And so we’ve come to really appreciate the mission and work of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, which focuses on educating people about responsible outdoor recreation for land preservation. Did you know that 90% of people who recreate outdoors are unaware of the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and how to minimize their environmental impact?! (We were also unaware of some of the practices!) Can you imagine the positive impact we can all make together by committing to these principles?! We’ve now taken it upon ourselves to spread the love and share this vital information through our platforms. Check out the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics website for tons of great information.
