About This Blog

Providing information, ideas and tips from our own adventures to inspire you to travel and explore more!
I started this blog initially to share our own adventures in order to inspire others to travel and explore responsibly. I felt like it needed a mission or some practical reason to exist or no one would read it, so I decided to focus on tips and responsible, safe travel. With the increased interest in the outdoors, primarily driven by social media, we realized just how irresponsible, selfish and uninformed many new travelers were, so it felt like an appropriate mission. After a few years of inconsistent (or no) posting, for a myriad of reasons, I think I’ve come to realize that I just want to write about the cool shit we do, what we saw, who we met, and all that we learned along the way. Having a goal and a mission was just too much pressure!
I just want to document our experiences while the memories are fresh in my squishy, forgetful brain so I can re-read it later and reminisce. The stories make me smile, giggle, feel warm and fuzzy, or rehash our lessons learned and missteps taken! This blog is nothing more than a diary so I can remember and share our life adventures. Hopefully you’ll take something from this – some inspiration, travel ideas, things NOT to do, laughs, but I won’t be offended if you don’t. The joy for me is in the writing and rehashing our experiences. And while I do enjoy helping and providing relevance in some way, it’s not the end goal. I’m hopeful that my new approach and outlook will encourage me to write and publish more, because for the 10 or so posts that are currently published, there’s hundreds more that I could have written! (I have way more drafts than posts published, LOL!)
When we really went hard into traveling, like really sent it, we didn’t have tons of extra resources, i.e., money, to jet-set around the country or world (still don’t), and this is when I really started to realize how blessed we are right in our own backyard. All around us there are amazing places and things to explore! For me, the “inspired traveler” started with hikes all over the Columbia River Gorge and trips to the Oregon Coast, and as I saw more, I wanted more, and we just haven’t stopped exploring.
We feel that travel is possible for nearly everyone, with any budget, amount of time or equipment. Please contact us for help, ideas or travel questions!
How it Started
This all began as a mutual hobby. We honestly never thought of starting a blog, but a friend suggested that we should when he saw pictures of all the cool stuff we were doing. Our niche Instagram account was first, which we made to document our travels and share cool photos. As we got deeper into IG, a blog seemed like a practical way to expand the written content about our adventures and provide even more details and tips for readers. I’d describe us both as storytellers, who generally just enjoy talking about anything really! I like to write, and starting a blog gave me a purpose and something to actually write about. (The traveling inspired me!) New experiences make us feel alive, be present, live in the moment, and forget about everything that we stress about on the regular – and life is stressful! Maybe that’s why I think everyone needs more travel and adventure to spice things up!
The More You Know
Before you get out there, please brush up on the mission and work of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, which focuses on educating people about responsible outdoor recreation for land preservation. Did you know that 90% of people who recreate outdoors are unaware of the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and how to minimize their environmental impact?! (We didn’t know all the practices!) Can you imagine the positive impact we can all make together by committing to these principles?! We’ve now taken it upon ourselves to spread the love and share this vital information through our platforms. Check out the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics website for tons of great information.
